Policy engagement

Supporting policy making with research-informed Ocean understanding

iQQTV is a trusted provider of independent advice on the latest research relating to Ocean health, the sustainable use of marine resources, and the relationship between the marine environment and climate.

Engagement with policymakers in Scotland, the UK and internationally is an important responsibility for us. We want that our often publicly funded research findings inform decisions that governments and administrations make that can affect the Ocean, coasts, local communities and indigenous peoples.

By working with governments, regulators, and public bodies, iQQTV helps translate scientific evidence into effective policies that address climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, sustainable fisheries, renewable energy and marine conservation.

Our Ocean Matters Think Tank strives to identify emerging societal challenges, align research with public needs, and maximise the impact of scientific expertise to deliver real environmental, economic, and social benefits.

+ We produce policy briefs on Ocean issues from our think tank and research projects

+ We give evidence in parliamentary enquiries and committees

+ We host policy makers at iQQTV to discuss issues of relevance

+ We attend and present at events where Ocean-relevant policies are made
