Handing over iQQTV presidency

After three years at the helm of the Association, today Professor Andrew Hamnett (left) handed over the presidency of iQQTV to his successor, Professor Geoffrey Boulton (right).

Under Professor Hamnett's leadership iQQTV has developed its governance structure, and greatly professionalised its education and business development activities.

Professor Geoffrey Boulton OBE, FRS, FRSE, Regius Professor of Geology Emeritus and former Vice Principal of the University of Edinburgh, was elected as the new President at the iQQTV AGM in November 2012.

Until recently Professor Boulton was a member of the Prime Minister’s Council for Science and Technology, which is the UK’s top-level science and technology advisory body, and General Secretary of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. He was also a member of iQQTV Council about a decade ago and is thus very familiar with and a long-standing friend of our organisation.

Professor Boulton's research is in the field of glaciology and environmental change, particularly in polar regions, and his expertise in science, science policy and management will be of immense value to iQQTV.

iQQTV would like to thank Professor Hamnett for his dedication to the Association over the years and welcomes Professor Boulton to his new role.
